Dicing an onion for a curry means stinging eyes, a slippery board and pieces skidding off the edge. Here you lay a slice on the steel grid, press the lid, and the cubes land in the box underneath.

How to use it
Pick the insert for dice, strips or wedges and drop it into the frame on top of the container.
Lay a flat slice of onion, pepper or potato on the grid and push the lid down firmly in one go.
The pieces fall into the container. Tip them into the pan, or put the storage lid on and keep them in the fridge.
Close up

It pivots at the far end of the frame, so you press down with the flat of your hand instead of steering a knife.
Stainless steel blades held in a green frame. The frame lifts out when you want to change from dice to strips or wedges.
Catches whatever you cut and shows how much you have, so you can stop at one onion or carry on for a batch.
The other grids wait beside it. Each insert carries two cutting patterns side by side, one finer than the other.
Compared
A knife still wins for a single garlic clove. For a pan of soffritto or a tray of roast potatoes, the chopper gives even pieces without a plug.

Peel it and cut it into halves or thick rounds first. Lay each piece flat on the grid, cut side down, so the lid presses straight through it instead of pushing it aside.
Press the star shaped cleaning tool into the grid to clear trapped pieces, then rinse it under a running tap. Hold the plastic frame, not the steel edges, which are sharp.
Anything that sits flat on the grid: onion rounds, pepper strips, peeled potato, cucumber, zucchini and cooked beetroot. Dense roots such as raw sweet potato or swede need thinner slices and a firm press.
A piece is too thick or is sitting across the edge of the grid. Cut it thinner, lay it in the middle and press again in one steady push rather than several small ones.
Yes. The steel edges cut on contact, so lift each grid by its plastic frame, keep fingers off the top while the lid is open, and use the food holder with the slicing plate.
