Ordinary cubes pile up around the straw in a big insulated cup and rattle at the top. Two thick rings of ice from this mold stack down the middle instead, and the straw passes through the hole.
Color Blue

How to use it
Take off the lid and pour water around both center posts until each cavity is full, then put the lid back on.
Stand the mold flat in the freezer and leave it until the water is solid all the way through, ideally overnight.
Press up on the base of each cup to slide the tube free. Drop the one marked 1st into the tumbler, then the 2nd on top.
Close up

The thinner center post leaves a 0.8 in (2 cm) wall of ice. This ring goes into the cup first and sits at the bottom.
A wider post gives a 0.6 in (1.5 cm) wall and a bigger hole, so the second ring drops on top with the straw still lined up.
A flat cover in the same color lies over both cavities while they freeze, keeping frost and stray peas off the water.
Each ring measures 3 in (7.5 cm) across, which suits the wide mouth of a 30 or 40 oz tumbler of about 0.9 to 1.3 qt (1.2 liters).
Compared
A standard tray still makes sense for glasses and jugs. The rings earn their place in a large straw cup that you refill through the day.

It is made for 30 and 40 oz tumblers, roughly 0.9 to 1.3 qt (1.2 liters), with a wide mouth. Each tube is 3 in (7.5 cm) across, so measure the inside of your cup's opening before you order.
The hole down the middle leaves room for the straw. Two tubes stack in the cup and you can still drink from the bottom without cubes blocking the way.
Thick rings take longer than small cubes. Allow at least six hours in a home freezer, and leave it overnight if you want rings that come out whole and clear of slush in the middle.
Leave the tray on the countertop for a minute, then push up on the base of each cup with your thumbs. The silicone rolls back and the ring slides off its center post in one piece.
Yes. Cold brew, juice and squash freeze into rings in the same way as water, which keeps an iced coffee from tasting watered down as the ice melts.
