Taco Holder Stand

$11.99

Hard shells tip over the moment you add the mince, and soft ones flop open. This little wave rack holds three of them upright on the plate, so you fill with both hands free.

Stand or no stand?

You can prop shells against each other on a plate. It works until somebody reaches for the salsa.

Questions

Three, one in each dip. For a family of four, order one per person in different colors so everyone knows which plate is theirs.

Yes. Fold the tortilla in half and stand it in a dip; the walls stop it opening out while you fill it.

No. It is plastic and the supplier gives no heat rating. Warm the shells on a baking sheet, let them cool for a minute, then stand them in the rack.

So each person at the table has their own. Order a mix and nobody argues over whose plate has the extra cheese on it.

Very light. The supplier's own photo shows one on a kitchen scale reading 1.6 oz (44 g), a little less than a medium egg out of its shell.

Shells still wobble

My taco shells are quite wide and wobbled in the dips, so it did not help me as much as I hoped. Might suit narrower shells better.

Dinner party hit

Did a taco bar for friends, everyone grabbed a stand. Three shells upright per plate, fillings in bowls down the middle. Nobody dropped a thing and it was a talking point. Keen cook here so I enjoyed that.

Did not need it

Honestly I do not make tacos often enough, and when I do I just lay them on the plate. Sits in the cabinet.

Fills one handed

Recovering from a wrist sprain and I could still fill my tacos with one hand because the shells just stand there waiting.

Friday night tacos

Friday is taco night here and we used to have wobbling shells everywhere. Now each plate gets a stand before the shells come out of the oven, then the shells go in and everyone builds their own. Mine has pulled pork, slaw and a squeeze of lime. Very little spills.

Our flat warming gift

Bought one for a friend who just got her first flat and loves a taco night. She sent a photo of it holding three tacos on her very first evening there, with a little bowl of grated cheese beside it. Her housemates now want one each, so I may be ordering more colours. The blue and the yellow looked best in the photo, to be fair.

Does the job nicely

Holds the shells firmly while I load them up, then I lift one out and eat. Straightforward and tidy.

Birthday party winner

Used these at my son's birthday taco lunch, one per guest. The kids filled their own shells and nothing toppled. Stacked flat in a bag after wiping them down.
