Raw chicken on your fingers, flour up to the wrists: the last thing you want is to grab a pump bottle. Put a hand under this one and the soap comes to you, with no lead to the wall.

How to use it
Open the cover underneath and fit four AAA batteries. They are not in the box.
Twist the top anticlockwise, pour in liquid soap or dish soap and twist it shut.
Put your hand under the spout and a measure of soap comes out. Take it away and it stops.
Close up

Twist it anticlockwise to open, pour in up to 13.5 fl oz (400 ml) through the wide neck, and twist it back.
Hold your palm a few centimeters below it. A short measure comes out and stops when your hand moves away.
Four AAA cells fit under a cover on the underside. They aren't supplied, so have a pack ready.
Compared
A pump bottle costs less and needs no batteries. The sensor model earns its place when your hands are messy and you'd rather not touch anything.

Yes. The supplier lists it for liquid soap, dish soap and lotion. It is not made for foaming soap.
No. It runs on four AAA batteries fitted underneath, so it can sit anywhere on the countertop.
It reacts to something close under the spout, not to movement across the room. Keep the area below the spout clear of cloths and sponges that could set it off.
The supplier lists liquid soap, lotion and sanitiser. Thin liquids flow best; a thick gel may come out slowly or need a second wave of the hand.

Sample, not realEven my teenage son washes his hands now, which is a miracle. It's the novelty, probably, but I'll take it.

Sample, not realThe old bottle sat in a puddle. This sits dry on its base and is easy to wipe.

Sample, not realMy kids are more excited about washing their hands now because the soap comes out by itself. Fewer drips on the counter too.

Sample, not realWhen I cook for a crowd, everyone washes up at once and the sink gets messy. This makes it much easier, nobody has to touch a wet pump. The batteries last well, I've had it a good few months now.

Sample, not realGutting fish and chopping garlic leaves a lingering smell on everything I touch. Now the bottle stays not smelly. I cook with a lot of garlic and fish, and the smell used to cling to the pump. This one stays clean because I never touch it. Four AAA batteries, no cable, easy.

Sample, not realSensor is good but I have to hold my hand still for a second before the soap comes. Fine once I got used to it.
