Palm Vegetable Peeler, Pair

$11.99

A palm peeler swaps the handle for two rubber rings. Your fingers go through them, the blade faces outwards, and peeling a bag of carrots becomes a stroking motion instead of a clench.

How to use it

Peeling without a handle

  1. 01

    Slip it on

Put your index and middle fingers through the two rubber rings so the blade faces your palm side out.

  2. 02

    Stroke the vegetable

Hold the carrot or potato in the other hand and draw the blade along it, away from you.

  3. 03

    Rinse it

Rinse the blade under the tap straight after use so starch and peel don't dry on it.

What sits where

The green palm peeler blade side up on a chopping board
  1. Blade

A slotted steel blade runs across the front edge, like the head of a swivel peeler laid flat.

  2. Finger rings

Two soft TPR loops for the index and middle fingers. They stretch a little, so most hand sizes fit.

  3. Palm plate

The flat gray back rests against your palm and spreads the pressure, which is the whole point for tired hands.

Palm peeler or swivel peeler?

Keep your old peeler for apples and knobbly roots. The palm version shines on long, straight vegetables.

Questions

It suits people who find gripping a handle tiring, because the rings hold it and your fingers only steer. It is slower on very knobbly vegetables such as ginger.

Choose two green, two orange, or one green and one orange. Both peelers in the pack are the same size and shape.

Yes. The rings and blade are symmetrical, so it sits the same way on either hand. Peel away from your body whichever hand you use.

No, the blade is fixed into the plastic body. That is one reason it comes as a pair: when one dulls after heavy use, the second is ready.

Really nice, one small thing

Love how it feels on my hand, and peeling carrots and cucumbers is quicker than with my old one. The one small thing is that bits of peel sometimes collect behind the blade on starchy potatoes, so I give it a rinse halfway through a big batch. Not a big deal, but worth knowing if you peel a lot of potatoes at once. Everything else is great.

Two for two kitchens

Our lake house kitchen needed its own peeler and the second one in the pack was perfect for that. Both are identical so nothing to argue about.

Roasting tray prep

Roasting trays of carrots and sweet potatoes most nights. Peeling is quick now, and my hand feels fine afterwards.

Best thing for my mum's hands

Mum has arthritis in both hands and had stopped peeling her own potatoes because holding a handle hurt after a minute. With this she just slips two fingers through the rings and strokes the potato. She did a whole pan of roasties for Sunday dinner by herself and was so pleased. We went for one green and one orange so she can keep one by the sink.
