Coffee shop foam at home does not need a steam wand. A slim wand with a spinning coil whips a warm mugful into a thick, glossy foam, and it rinses clean under the tap.

Wand, jug frother or steam wand?
A jug frother heats as it whisks; a wand needs you to warm things first. In return it costs far less, fits in a drawer and works in any mug.

Questions
No, it only whisks. Warm the milk in a pan or the microwave first for a hot drink, or froth it cold for iced coffee.
No. It takes 2 AA batteries, which you buy separately and fit in the handle.
Whole gives the creamiest foam, and semi skimmed rises higher but lighter. Barista style oat drinks work well; thin almond or cashew versions foam less and collapse sooner.
It whisks instant coffee, matcha, hot chocolate powder and protein shakes into a drink without lumps. It is too small and too gentle for whipping cream or egg whites in any quantity.
Warm it until it is hot to the touch but not boiling. Anything near boiling foams poorly, and foam made from scalded dairy collapses quickly.

Not for my tiny cups
I mainly drink small coffees from little espresso cups and there's just not enough room to froth in them without milk going everywhere, so I end up doing it in a separate jug and pouring. The whisk itself works. It's more my habits than the product, but for me it hasn't really earned a place. Probably great in a big mug.
Works really well, but I didn't realise it needed 2 AA batteries until I opened the box, and of course we had none in the house. Once fitted, lovely foam.
It makes good foam for a latte or a hot chocolate and I use it daily. Taking a star off because the foam is lighter and bubblier than you'd get from a coffee shop steam wand, which I suppose is to be expected from a little battery whisk. If you're realistic about that you'll be happy. The white handle does show coffee splashes, so wipe it often.
