Cleaning and care

The sink is the busiest corner of most kitchens and usually the most cluttered. These three pieces each free up space there: a drying rack that rolls out over the sink and rolls away after, a soap dispenser you never touch with dirty hands, and a bag holder that turns a cupboard door into a bin.

Drying without a draining board

The rack is a row of coated steel rods joined by silicone ends. Unroll it across the sink and wet dishes drip straight into the basin; roll it up and it fits in a drawer. It comes in two widths, so measure across your sink first: the rack needs to rest on the edges on both sides. It also works as a trivet for a hot pan and as a rest for thawing bread, and because it is open underneath, nothing sits in a puddle the way it does on a draining board.

Soap without touching the pump

The sensor soap dispenser releases a measured amount when a hand passes under the spout, which keeps raw chicken or dough off the pump. It runs on four AAA batteries and holds 400 ml, enough for weeks of dishes. Use a liquid soap or washing up liquid; very thick gels and foams are not suitable.

A bin on the cupboard door

The bin bag holder hooks over the top of a cupboard door and holds a carrier bag or small bin liner open. It is handy for peelings while you prep, and in a small kitchen it can replace a bin on the floor altogether. Check the thickness of your door before ordering, since the hooks need to sit flush for the door to close.

All three are easy to clean: wipe the rack and holder with warm soapy water, and rinse the soap dispenser tank whenever you change the soap. Dry the rack before rolling it up, so no water is left sitting between the rods in the drawer.

Questions

Measure the inside width of your sink and add a few centimetres for each edge. The rack must reach the rim on both sides to take the weight of wet plates, and the product page lists both widths.

No. It runs on four AAA batteries, so it can sit anywhere on the worktop. The batteries are not included unless the product page says otherwise.
