What the tilt is for
A flat dish holds its last mouthfuls at the bottom, directly under the animal's chin, and reaching them means craning the neck down and forward. Angling the dish about fifteen degrees brings that food up the near wall instead, so the final few pieces sit where the animal can take them without changing posture.
It reads as a small thing until you watch an older cat eat. Stiffness through the neck and shoulders is common well before it is obvious, and a cat that stops before finishing is often stopping because the position has become uncomfortable rather than because it has had enough. Width, and why it matters more than depth

Each dish holds 200ml, which suits cats and small dogs. A medium or large dog will empty it in one go, so look at the slow feeder stand instead.
