Why self-righting works
A cat's play sequence runs stalk, pounce, catch, then walk away. What sustains it is feedback: something has to happen in response to the swipe. A toy that skitters across the floor and stops is over in one move, and the cat, having got no reaction from the second attempt, loses interest and finds something else.
A weighted base changes the arithmetic. Every strike is answered by the toy standing back up, which invites the next one, and the sequence continues for as long as the cat wants it to.
