3-in-1 Egg Slicer

£9.99

Slicing a boiled egg with a knife crumbles the yolk and leaves uneven rounds. Wires pass through in one press, and this one has three frames, so you choose halves, wedges or slices.

Slicing a boiled egg in the black egg slicer

How to use it

Peel, press, plate

  1. 01

    Peel and drop it in

Stand a peeled, cooled boiled egg in the black cup, pointed end up.

  2. 02

    Pick a frame and press

Blue halves it, yellow cuts wedges, red slices it. Press the frame down through the egg in one firm push.

  3. 03

    Lift it out

Tip the cut egg onto the plate or bread and rinse the wires under the tap.

Three frames, one cup

Kindral 3 in 1 egg slicer in black with blue, yellow and red frames
  1. Blue frame

Sits on top of the stack. Its single wire cuts the egg in half for devilled eggs or a ramen bowl.

  2. Stainless wires

Each frame carries its own set: crossed wires on the yellow one for wedges, parallel wires on the red one for slices.

  3. Base cup

The black cup cradles the egg and has slots for the wires to pass into, so the cut goes right through to the bottom.

Compared

Wires or a knife?

A sharp knife is fine for one egg. For a tray of egg mayonnaise sandwiches or a salad for six, the wires are quicker and every slice matches.

Questions

With a fully cooled, hard boiled egg, yes. A soft or warm yolk smears on the wires, so chill the eggs in cold water first.

Soft things a wire goes through easily, like strawberries, mushrooms and mozzarella. Not hard vegetables.

The egg is still warm or slightly soft in the middle. Cook it for ten minutes, cool it in cold water for five, then peel and slice.

The red one. It has the most wires and cuts the egg into even rounds that lie flat on buttered bread.

Pretty good

Works well. Frames are a little stiff at first.

Snug fit for jumbo eggs

We buy jumbo eggs and they sit pretty snug in the cup, so you have to press a little harder. Large eggs go through like nothing. Still use it all the time.

Strawberries too

Bought it for eggs but honestly use it more for slicing strawberries onto my porridge. Red frame, one push, done. Mushrooms work nicely as well.

Mozzarella and tomato

Slices a ball of mozzarella in seconds. Wires rinse off easily.

Proper wedges for salads

Wedges were always the bit I made a mess of with a knife, yolk everywhere. The yellow frame gives even wedges and the yolk stays put as long as the eggs are properly cold.

Cobb salad night

Wedges for Cobb salad look so much nicer than my lopsided chunks. Yellow frame, one press, done.

Good, tough on warm eggs

Does a nice job on eggs that are chilled all the way through. Slightly warm ones smear, so it takes a bit of planning. Worth it though.

Better than expected

Honestly a bit of a gimmick when I ordered, and now I use it three times a week for egg and for button mushrooms on omelets. Does everything it says.
