A sponge clogs with grease and starts to smell within days. These wire dishwashing rags are flat mesh squares that scrub a pan base or a hob ring, then rinse out under the tap and dry on a hook.
Pack 10 cloths

How to use it
Run the cloth under the tap and squeeze a drop of washing up liquid onto it, as you would a sponge.
Work over the pan, the hob or the sink, folding it in half for a firmer edge. Test a corner first on non stick or polished surfaces.
Rinse it under the tap, squeeze out the water and hang it over the tap or a rail so it dries before the next wash.
Close up

Rows of knitted loops with a silvery thread running through them. The open texture snags crusted bits that a flat cloth slides over.
A white hem runs round all four sides, so the knit has a finished edge to hold while you wring it out.
Pinch it into a point to reach the angle where a pan wall meets the base, or the gap round a gas burner.
Compared
A sponge is softer and holds more water. Steel wool cuts through burnt sugar but can mark coated pans. The mesh cloth sits between the two and dries flat.
| Compared | This productWire dish cloth | Kitchen sponge | Steel wool pad |

No. The supplier lists the material as cloth and plastic, and the same cloth is sold elsewhere as nylon. The silver thread looks metallic, but these are mesh cloths, not solid steel scourers.
The listing calls them non scratch but gives no test to back that up. Rub a corner on a hidden patch of a non stick or polished surface before you scrub the whole pan.
The supplier's diagram gives 20 cm square, while people who bought the same cloth elsewhere measured closer to 18 cm. We give both figures so the pack holds no surprises when it arrives.
The 10 pack suits a home that swaps cloths every week or two. The 20 pack costs a little more and lasts twice as long, or splits between the kitchen and a utility room sink.
