Dinosaur Training Chopsticks for Kids

R199.99

Two loose sticks are hard to control with small hands. These training chopsticks for kids join at the top under a dinosaur head and put loops where the fingers go, so practice starts with lifting food.

How to use it

Loops, pinch, wash

  1. 01

    Fingers in the loops

Slide the fingers through the white loops on one stick and rest the thumb on the white pad on the other.

  2. 02

    Pinch to pick up

Squeeze the two sticks together to lift a piece of food, then open the fingers to let it go. The hinge keeps the tips lined up.

  3. 03

    Wash after meals

Rinse them in warm soapy water and leave them to air dry. The supplier gives no dishwasher guidance.

What each part is for

Kindral dinosaur training chopsticks in green
  1. Dinosaur head

Holds the two sticks together at the top like a hinge, so they open and close as a pair instead of crossing over.

  2. Finger loops

Two white loops on one stick show where the fingers sit, which takes the guesswork out of the grip.

  3. Thumb pad

A white pad on the other stick gives the thumb a place to press from when pinching.

  4. Ridged tips

Small ridges at the ends help hold a noodle, a piece of broccoli or a cube of tofu.

Training set, clip on helper or ordinary chopsticks?

A clip on helper turns any pair into a trainer but leaves the fingers to find their own place. The dinosaur set builds the guide into the sticks.

Questions

The supplier gives no age range and no safety test for them, so we don't state one. They are 18 cm long, and a grown up should sit with young children while they eat.

The listing doesn't say, so wash them by hand in warm soapy water and let them air dry. Check the hinge and the finger loops for cracks before each meal.

The supplier doesn't say which hand they are made for. Look at the close up photo of the finger loops before ordering for a left handed child.

One green, one blue and one pink pair, each with the same dinosaur head and white loops. The single colour sets hold three pairs of the colour you choose.

The supplier lists the material as PP and TPR plastic but has not supplied a food contact or children's safety test report, so we make no safety claim for them.
