Pasta water and milk foam up fast and run down the outside of the pan. This spill stopper lid sits flat on the rim through the boil, with yellow petals in the middle where the steam finds its way out.
Colour Purple
Pack 1 lid

How to use it
Lay the lid flat over a pan of water, milk or stock before it reaches the boil, petals facing up.
Steam leaves through the gaps around the yellow petals, so the froth from pasta or milk has room to settle back instead of spilling down the side.
Wear an oven glove, take hold of both loop handles and tilt the lid away from you so the steam clears your hand.
Close up

Five yellow petals sit over an open centre, with gaps between them. That is where the steam escapes while the rest of the lid stays put.
One loop on each side of the rim. Hook a gloved finger through each and the lid lifts off level.
Thin ribs trace a flower pattern across the silicone and give the soft sheet some shape as it rests on the pan.
The outer edge follows the petal outline and reaches past the rim of a 20 cm pan, so the lid overlaps all the way round.

Fit
The supplier sizes it for pans 20 to 25 cm across. It rests on the rim, so measure across the top of the pan.
On a milk pan smaller than 20 cm the lid hangs well over the edge, outside the size the supplier gives, so we leave those off the list.
Compared
A pan lid left ajar works until you forget to check it. The silicone lid stays flat with its own vent, which suits a pan of pasta that needs ten minutes at the boil.
| Compared | This productSpill stopper lid | Pan lid left ajar | No lid |
|---|---|---|---|
| Covers the whole pan | Yes | Mostly | No |
| Where steam gets out | Through the centre | At the gap | Everywhere |
| Fits other pans | 20 to 25 cm | Its own pan | Any |
| Stored | Flat in a drawer | With the pan | Nothing to store |
The supplier lists it for pans 20 to 25 cm across, which covers most saucepans and smaller stock pots. It needs to overlap the rim all the way round, so a pot wider than 25 cm is too big for it.
Yes, it sits on the pan through the boil. Keep the hob at a steady boil rather than turned right up, and lift it off with an oven glove, because steam gathers underneath.
The lid lies flat on the pan with an open centre under five loose petals. Steam leaves through the gaps between them, and the froth that climbs to the lid meets the silicone and sinks back. Keep the hob at a steady boil, because any pan can still froth over on full power.
It sits on the pan, not on the hob, so induction, ceramic and gas all work. On gas, keep the flame under the base of the pan so it never reaches the silicone that overhangs the rim.
Yes. Pick a colour and the pair arrives as two matching lids, which helps when pasta and a pan of potatoes are boiling side by side on the hob.
